Hamus Hotel in Conil

The project involves developing a hotel-apartment complex on two adjacent plots separated by a pedestrian public street. The site is part of the "La Chanca" special inner reform plan in Conil de la Frontera, a location historically linked to tuna fishing and preservation, recognized as a Place of Ethnological Interest. As the first project executed in this expansion zone, it serves as an urban hinge connecting the historic town center with the expanding beachfront promenade.

To seamlessly integrate into the coastal landscape and respect the historic surroundings, the upper level's volume is fragmented by interleaving built structures with open terraces, avoiding conspicuous cladding. Conversely, the ground level features a denser build enclosed by a wall with vertical timber-like slats that configure a private courtyard. This courtyard shares the finishes of the adjoining public space, effectively blurring the boundaries between public and private domains when the gates open.

The layout comprises 17 uniquely designed apartments tailored for long, unhurried stays (slow vacation), ranging from intimate studios with private pools to spacious two-bedroom family units. The ground floor hosts a cafeteria with a curved bar that opens fully to the courtyard, which is organized by transverse trusses for lighting and shading alongside integrated planter benches. Finally, the basement contains parking and auxiliary services, which required specific technical engineering due to sandy soil conditions below the water table given its proximity to the sea and the Salado River.
